Welcome to 7th Grade Social Studies
Welcome to seventh grade, my name is Ms. Di Silvio. I am looking forward to an exciting year together!
What Will We Study This Year?
In Social Studies, we will begin the year by reviewing what we have learned in world geography. The main focus of our class, however, will be ancient civilizations. Students will learn what civilizations are and what life was like before they arose. Included in our study will be parts of Africa, Mesopotamia, Phoenicia, Greece and Rome. In addition, we will spend some time talking about current events. In social studies, we will utilize an "interactive notebook” or IN. I will be sending a separate letter home to explain what goes into a successful IN.

What Are Our Classroom Procedures?
Over the next few weeks we will discuss various class procedures and get a chance to practice them. Because I intend to provide a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and where all students know they are safe and welcome, I expect everyone to:
- Be prepared for class. Students must bring all items listed for each subject every day. Preparation will be a part of a student’s grade.
- Enter the room quietly and be seated in the correct seat.
- Follow instructions on the overhead projector immediately upon entering the room.
- Respect all learners in the classroom!!!
